The 2015 winegrowing year was marked by striking contrasts in climate, starting with a particularly cold spring, followed by a prolonged period of hot, dry weather that lasted until the end of August. When the harvest began on 7 September, in brilliant sunshine, the vines were impeccably healthy, revealing the exceptional generosity and balance of the grapes. This vintage aromatic wine promises a remarkable aromatic richness, capturing the unique essence of the year.

The beginning of winter was particularly rigorous in 2009. The Champagne region saw intermittent snowfall, and temperatures remained quite low. Spring was warm but rainy. The weather did not encourage flowering and there was a threat of mildew. The summer, despite stormy periods that raised concerns that the health of the vines might suffer, was dominated by sunshine, especially in August. The weather remained hot, dry and very sunny for five consecutive weeks. On September 4 a hailstorm hit the vineyards in Hautvillers, Verzenay and Chouilly. The summery weather returned the very next day, however, and the grapes continued to ripen in complete serenity. The harvest thus began on September 12 under absolutely idyllic conditions.

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006 Plénitude 2 marks a new encounter between Dom Pérignon and the year 2006, underlining the crucial importance of time in the making of this vintage. All the champagnes contain sulphites. The climate in the Champagne region in 2006 was characterised by a hot, dry season, which had a significant impact on the vines. September’s summery conditions were decisive, effectively drying out the outbreaks of botrytis and encouraging exceptional ripening of the grapes. Beginning on 11 September, the harvest stretched out for almost three weeks, the ideal time for a superior-quality crop. This vintage is a perfect example of how a favourable climate can influence the champagne quality.

The year 2000 was marked by an understandably stressful succession of cold and rainy periods, followed by hot and stormy interludes. The summer was uncertain, with long stretches of dreary weather. Then, at the end of August, the weather turned miraculously beautiful. This favorable period, which lasted through the entire harvest, is what made the vintage. Picking began with the Pinot Noir grapes on September 11, providing amazingly rich fruit.

The climate scenario in 2002 was contrasted, marked by a relative lack of water. The combined effect of the wind and heat contributed to a concentration of the fruit, a singular phenomenon that lasted until the end of the harvest, which began on September 14th The distinctive signature of the vintage was the almost over aromatic ripeness of the Chardonnay. Dom Pérignon Vintage 2002 Plénitude 2 reveals an affirmed and heightened maturity. It evokes a diaphanous gold, magnified by the energy of light to a gleaming radiance.

CHAMPAGNE

After a particularly harsh, dry winter, early April 2003 brought severe frosts that caused significant losses. Going from one extreme to the other, temperatures began rising in late May to reach exceptional highs – a heat wave that brought the Champagne region its hottest summer in fifty-three years and the driest in a decade. With ripening accelerated by the heat and low grape yield, to everyone’s surprise, harvesting began on August 21.

With its remarkable ease and generosity, the 2004 winemaking year stands out in the history of Dom Pérignon. The year unfolded in a virtually ideal scenario. Each season segued to the next with ease and fluidity, devoid of disturbances or excess. A rather cool August was followed by a few weeks of dry heat that made the vintage. The harvest began on September 24th, providing grapes that were superbly ripe. After the syncopated rhythms of 2003, Vintage 2004 Plénitude 2 appears evident, a year of renaissance and calm. The wine balances on the edge with immediacy and surprise, evolving between tension and weightlessness.

In 2022, Veuve Clicquot reveals this 9th edition of La Grande Dame Rosé, an exceptional and rare wine. In 1818, Madame Clicquot crafted the first known "rosé d'assemblage" champagne by blending some of her Bouzy red wines with her white wines. La Grande Dame Rosé respects her vision with 90% of Pinot Noir coming from the historic Grands Crus of our terroir as well as a red wine added to the blend from a single parcel: the Parcelle 'Clos Colin' located in Bouzy, a Grand Cru terroir.

Climatically, the year was similar to 1989. After a damp, mild winter, the buds burst almost a month early. The vineyards were therefore at risk from spring frost, which came in two waves on the 5th and 19th April, affecting almost 12,000 hectares. The flowering came in the first two weeks of June, in cooler weather. With July, summer came to last. If temperature and rainfall were normal, the hours of sunshine were by comparison, quite exceptional: almost 2,100 hours, a record for the last 30 years. As the harvest drew near, sugar content rose rapidly while acidity maintained a good level. The cuvée Cave Privée Rosé 1990 is a blend of Grands and Premiers Crus. It is a blend of 56% Pinot Noir, 11% Meunier and 33% Chardonnay. The addition of 17% red wine from Bouzy from own production using grapes from our vines completed the blend.

1990 was a year of abundance. Despite two waves of April frost, 1990 was the sunniest of the 30 years precending, counting 2.100 hours of sunshine. Its color is a very deep gold, a not to the year’s plentiful sunshine. Effervescence if fine an enduring the nos is impressive in it great intensity and richness. Fruity aromas dominate on two levels: with almost candied fruit and citrus notes, while exposure reveals vanilla notes of rare elegance with nuances of minimality. Some lightly toasted aromas complete the overall effect.

Despite a few climatic variations at the beginning of the season, the grapevines developed perfectly and under fairly favorable conditions. This resulted in abundance and quality! After a gentle, rainy winter, the season began with spring frosts, but only minor local damage was noted. This was followed by a succession of hot, rainy periods, leading to the development of certain parasites, which were quickly brought under control by our wine-growers. Flowering occurred under favorable conditions at the end of June, heralding an excellent yield. Harvest began in fairly cool weather on September 18, and was spread out over several weeks. The musts were beautifully balanced, comparable to those seen in 1988, suggesting excellent cellaring potential. Grapes from around twenty Premier and Grand Cru villages were meticulously selected to create the blend of this vintage. The House style can be seen in the use of 58% Pinot Noir, balanced with 33% Chardonnay and 9% Meunier.

Veuve Cliquot Demi-Sec is a tribute to the taste of the nineteenth century consumers for sweeter champagnes and offers today multiple experiences due to its roundness and aromatic richness. As with all Veuve Clicquot blends, Demi-Sec is predominantly Pinot Noir (50%), which gives the champagne its strength. The pursuit of distinct fruit flavors means that there is a higher level of Meunier (30%) in the blend than would typically be found in Yellow Label, for example, and Chardonnay completes the blend (20%). The inclusion of up to 45% reserve wines ensures the consistency of the Veuve Clicquot style. The 3 years aging in our Crayères brings silkiness to the Champagne. The only prestige cuvée Demi Sec in the world, this unique champagne is crafted using just the ultra-selective first portion of the cuvée press – a winemaking signature of all Armand de Brignac assemblages. With a dosage on the lowest end of the Demi Sec spectrum, it delivers powerful fruit flavor, complexity from additional age on lees, and a balanced sweetness that makes it the perfect accompaniment to an array of cuisines. The Armand de Brignac Demi Sec was once a curiosity shared only with visitors to the maison in Chigny-les-Roses, France. This very small production 100% Chardonnay cuvée is crafted from fruit sourced from traditional Chardonnay territory, the Côte des Blancs, and almost half of the blend is from the lauded Montagne de Reims. Krug Grande Cuvée is born from the dream of one man, Joseph Krug, to craft the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate. Since 1843, the House of Krug has honoured this vision with each new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the most generous expression of Champagne. Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2016, a year of weather conditions so contrasted, they became a caricature of the climatic pendulum. An extremely wet spring, with 70% more rainfall versus the norm between April and June, made vineyard work difficult and increased disease pressure. Clement weather ensued from flowering onwards, allowing the vineyard to recover, ending with a heatwave at the end of ripening. The marathon harvest took place from September 9 to October 2 yielding classic grapes in good health and wines all about expression and character, regardless of grape variety or origin.

Krug Rosé is an unexpected rosé Champagne combining elegance and boldness- inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not exist, a rosé Champagne that could be re-created every year. Krug Rosé 27ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2015, a year marked by unprecedented heat and drought that prevailed from the end of May to mid-August, slowing grape development. Fortunately, rains and reasonable temperatures in the second half of August allowed the berries to grow in optimal conditions. The harvest took place under the rain between August 31 and September 21, with great heterogeneity from plot to plot.

Krug 2011 is so opulent yet crisp, the House’s Tasting Committee nicknamed this Champagne “Spirited Roundness”. For Krug, the year 2011 gave birth to a surprising Champagne allying finesse and power with a spontaneous, vibrant side born from this fiery year. Krug 2011 is ample, generous, and assertive.

We invite you to discover the Soloist, the expression of the extreme purity of Krug Clos du Mesnil: from a single plot– Clos du Mesnil– a single grape variety– Chardonnay– and the harvest of a single year– 2008. This 1.84- hectare (4.5-acre) vineyard has been protected by walls since 1698. The vineyard is located in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most iconic villages for Chardonnay in the Champagne region. The harvest of the Clos du Mesnil took place on September 18th, 20th, and 21st of 2008 and afforded grapes with intense freshness and elegantexpression that made for beautifully structured wines. The House of Krug chose to create Krug Clos du Mesnil 2008 because the year 2008 succeeded in offering ideal conditions for the maturation of beautiful grapes, with the promise of revealing the full potential of this walled plot.

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs includes some 25–30 different chardonnay crus, predominantly from the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims, the Sézannais and La Vallée de la Vesle. They reflect the rich diversity of the Champagne terroir. Visually, the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs has a brilliant robe with a beautiful pale yellow color and slight hints of almond green and jade green reflections.

Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2010 is made exclusively from Grand Cru chardonnays, 90% of which are grown on the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Chouilly and Cramant) and 10% on the Montagne de Reims (Sillery). This iconic grape variety reflects the rich diversity of terroirs in the Champagne region and is present in all Maison Ruinart’s cuvées. After a very cold winter, the year 2010 was characterized by a dry early summer and a rainy August. Harvesting began on August 15th. From the tasting of the base wines, the 2010 chardonnays surprised with their richness. A balance that allowed the oenological team to express all their know-how in the blend. It was the promise of a great vintage.

Dom Ruinart Rosé 2009 is composed of 85% Grand Cru chardonnays, predominantly from the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, and Mesnil-sur-Oger), the Montagne de Reims (Sillery), and 15% Aÿ Grand Cru pinot noirs. In 2009, hail, rain, and wind disrupted the flowering process but were soon replaced by a dry summer. These summer conditions allowed for the perfect maturation of the grapes until the mid-September harvest. The average sunshine, combined with cool temperatures, enhanced the fruit's aroma while preserving the right acidity sought after by the Maison. The ancestry of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut can be traced back to 1846, when Maison Perrier-Jouët launched its historic Cuvée K, the world’s first lightly dosed champagne in the style today known as “brut”. Cuvée K was dosed at a sugar level of less than 5% – daringly little for an era when champagnes regularly contained up to 40%. Maison Perrier-Jouët became renowned for its brut champagnes, which it was able to produce owing to the fact that its high quality grapes required very little added sugar – a philosophy maintained to this day. The last vintage harvested in October, the only one in two decades, Louis Roederer Cristal Rose 2013 continues the great tradition of balance and purity that has made it legendary. The mineral concentration is at its peak and achieves tremendous depth in this late year. The longer vegetative cycle, the dry, bright summer and the slow ripening of the grapes up until the start of the autumn have given rise to two remarkably well-balanced and fresh champagnes that are the quintessence of chalky purity and the unique elegance typical of Cristal. In 2013 the Chardonnay shone with a new light, deeper, more complex and more saline. Blended with the Pinot Noir, it brings it out and takes it to a higher dimension, providing a structure and texture that portend a remarkable potential.

2012 was one of the most challenging and complicated years ever experienced in Champagne. However, difficult conditions often lead to great things. The low yields, due to the unpredictable weather, combined with continental conditions towards the end of the season, gave us unusual levels of maturity, resulting in rich, full-bodied and structured wines worthy of the greatest vintages in Champagne. Over the years Louis Roederer has developed a uniquetechnique for the production of its rosé champagnes. This process, referred to by Roederer as the ‘infusion’ technique, allows us to bring out the juicy, ripe character of the Pinot noirs whilst preserving their exceptional freshness. A small amount of Chardonnay juice is added to the Pinot noir maceration which then ferment together and integrate smoothly and harmoniously. The dosage is 8 g/l. Throughout the entire tasting experience, the wine’s finesse remains intricately interwoven in its power and structure. Louis Roederer Collection 242 is based on a multi-vintage blend of wines from selected vineyard plots in the heart of the Champagne terroirs with a focus on sustainable growing.

This 244th blend from the Louis Roederer Champagne House is based on the finest successes of the 2019 harvest, a year of record-breaking temperatures brought by particularly intense heat waves. Dry and continental and of magnificent maturity, this year gave us wines that were dense and fresh, with a masterful balance, conducive to bringing out the powerful and luscious Collection character in the blend. All the wines from this harvest were rigorously tasted, plot by plot, before being blended in a complex symphony recreating the perfect picture of the vintage. Made up of 54% of the 2019 harvest, Collection 244 is an ode to taste and drinking pleasure. Each year, the Cellar Master composes a new symphony, inspired by the tonalities of the year and then adds the wines from the Perpetual Reserve and the oak-aged reserve wines. The Perpetual Reserve makes up a significant proportion of the Collection blend and provides its balance and freshness. In Collection 244, it represents 36% of the blend. In parallel to this Perpetual Reserve, 10% of wines from previous years and young plots on the Cristal estate, aged in French oak foudres, are added to the blend.

Composed of 100% Chardonnay, the Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2015 is generally matured on lees for five years and left for a minimum of 6 months after dégorgement (disgorging) to attain perfect maturity.

A snapshot of a year, this Rosé comes from 35 small staggered plots on the warm terroirs of our “La Rivière” estate planted with Pinot noir, and the cooler limestone soils where the Chardonnay thrives. Born mostly from our vines in Cumières, this Rosé benefits from a long and soft infusion of the Pinot noir that allows the extraction of the juice and ripeness all the while preserving this great saline freshness.

This unique Blanc de Noirs cuvée bears the name of the Patron Saint of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. This Clos of one hectare meets strict standards: a single, unbroken and enclosed plot with a complete vinification installation in situ. This single varietal of incredible typicity has all the qualities of an exceptional wine of great depth and singularity, to be kept for long-term aging. The one-hectare Clos Saint-Hilaire meets the strictest guidelines: a single enclosed, contiguous parcel with complete winemaking facilities on site. The terroir's magic combined with the wine maker's skills make this wine exceptional. Made only from Pinot Noir vinified in casks, it develops an outstanding purity. Billecart-Salmon decided to add very little liqueur, or dosage, after disgorgement in order to let the typicality of the single grape used to make this great wine evolve.
