Product details

In 2015 Veuve Clicquot declared the 67th Vintage since 1810, the year when Madame Clicquot created the first vintage champagne. The predominance of Pinot Noir (50%), the touch of 10% of wines produced in oak casks and the prolonged aging on the lees give the power and aromatic richness so typical of Veuve Clicquot Brut Vintage style. Chardonnay (30%) brings the elegance and finesse of a perfectly balanced wine, while a small percentage of Pinot Meunier (20%) rounds out the blend. Veuve Clicquot’s Vintage collection is unique for its use of wines vinified and aged in large oak casks (10%), which adds strength and aromatic intensity. The cask-aged wines bring an additional complexity with their spicy notes and subtle roast coffee and toasted aromas.

Notes

Citrus fruits: orange, grapefruit, lemon peel. Pastry aromas: biscuit, brioche, crumble, marmalade, dried apricot, date, roasted almond, hazelnut, honey.

GRANDE DAME OF CHAMPAGNE

Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin was born in 1777, the daughter of a textile manufacturer in Reims, Champagne. Widowed at the age of only 27, she took control of her own destiny and became one of the first modern entrepreneurs. In an era when women were excluded from the business world, she dared to assume the head of the company founded by her father-in-law in 1772, a role she undertook with passion and determination. Her creativity and lust for innovation led to many firsts in Champagne: the first known vintage champagne; the invention of the riddling table; the first known blended rosé champagne. Three inventions that revolutionised champagne making and were widely adopted by producers, becoming the basis of modern champagne production. Madame Clicquot made her name into a brand of excellence and had it shine the world over. Her formidable contributions earned her the nickname of "La Grande Dame of Champagne".
