Caol Ila 12 Year Old is made near Port Askaig on Islay, where the distillery has operated since 1846. Its Gaelic name means Sound of Islay, referring to the water between Islay and Jura; the single malt matures for 12 years before bottling.

Notes

Gentle sweetness and fragrant smoke open the palate. Salt and a little acidity provide balance, with a long finish that remains lightly tart.

Caol Ila takes its Gaelic name from the Sound of Islay, the channel separating Islay and Jura. Hector Henderson chose this secluded eastern shore in 1846, placing his distillery across the water from the peaks of the Paps of Jura.
