Santa Ana Gin is made via partial-vacuum distillation, a technique mastered in the Charente region of France. This technique enables the ability to extract a concentration of botanical aromas without degradation by heat. The subtlest of perfumes are extracted with vacuum distillation, which strengthen and become more complex towards the end of distillation. The result of the process is a fragrant, delicious gin utilising even the most sensitive of botanicals, such as Ylang-Ylang or Calamansi.

Tasting notes

An economically vital citrus hybrid, Calamansi — also known as the Philippine lime — is native to the Philippines and is widely used in local culinary culture. Its remarkable combination of sweet lime zest and sour orange-like notes make for a delicious tropical fruit juice. The Dalandan orange is another variety of citrus fruit native to the Philippines. These oranges are sour and tart with a hint of sweetness that develops with maturity, matching up very well as a neutraliser in spirits and cocktails.

This beautiful gin is an homage to the inimitable dancehall days of 1920s Manila and its crown jewel, the legendary Santa Ana Cabaret, once the largest in the world. Set amidst the splendour of the Philippine Art Deco Movement, Santa Ana Cabaret was a musical playground for Manileños of the time. A large dinner and dance club, Santa Ana Cabaret was the “largest cabaret in the world with the best dance music in the Orient”. At over 3000 m2, this massive Art Deco, white linen tablecloth and dance floor-adorned club attracted well-heeled Manileños and American visitors alike. By the 1920s, the Santa Ana Cabaret’s reputation grew, peaking in the late 1920s/early 1930s — which coincidentally was the height of Prohibition in the US. Playground to the rich and famous, Santa Ana guests danced to the music of Vic Hernandez & the Swing-sational, to a range of styles from the Charleston to the Tango and Waltzes, Blues and Jazz. As the brand is inspired by a lively, energetic musical era, Santa Ana Gin has music as part of its DNA, delivering a multi-sensorial brand experience alongside fragrance, palate, and visually striking elements.
