Product details

Veuve Cliquot Demi-Sec is a tribute to the taste of the nineteenth century consumers for sweeter champagnes and offers today multiple experiences due to its roundness and aromatic richness. As with all Veuve Clicquot blends, Demi-Sec is predominantly Pinot Noir (50%), which gives the champagne its strength. The pursuit of distinct fruit flavors means that there is a higher level of Meunier (30%) in the blend than would typically be found in Yellow Label, for example, and Chardonnay completes the blend (20%). The inclusion of up to 45% reserve wines ensures the consistency of the Veuve Clicquot style. The 3 years aging in our Crayères brings silkiness to the Champagne. Finally, a dosage of 45 g/L gives Demi-Sec the final balance of flavors. Contains sulphites.

Tasting notes

With its equilibrium that tends towards sweet and fruit flavors, Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec Champagne is an indulgent treat and perfectly suited for powerful chesses, dessert and world cuisine. After additional cellaring (two to three years, or even more in the right conditions), Demi Sec develops even richer notes of praline or toasts. It is then ideal with caramel or praline based desserts: Paris-Brest, Tarte Tatin, pears with caramel.

GRANDE DAME OF CHAMPAGNE

Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin was born in 1777, the daughter of a textile manufacturer in Reims, Champagne. Widowed at the age of only 27, she took control of her own destiny and became one of the first modern entrepreneurs. In an era when women were excluded from the business world, she dared to assume the head of the company founded by her father-in-law in 1772, a role she undertook with passion and determination. Her creativity and lust for innovation led to many firsts in Champagne: the first known vintage champagne; the invention of the riddling table; the first known blended rosé champagne. Three inventions that revolutionised champagne making and were widely adopted by producers, becoming the basis of modern champagne production. Madame Clicquot made her name into a brand of excellence and had it shine the world over. Her formidable contributions earned her the nickname of "La Grande Dame of Champagne".
