Product details

This 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky amplifies The Singleton’s signature richness, in a harmony of rich fruits and silky toffee notes forged by our Trinity Harmony Philosophy. Three different cask styles have been united to create a Single Malt even greater than the sum of its parts. Maureen and her team painstakingly hand-selected and then harmonised slow crafted whiskies from Pedro Ximenez Oloroso seasoned casks and Refill Ex-Bourbon casks, which had been resting in our private reserves for over two decades, then masterfully marrying the final liquid in European Oak casks. The richness of these whiskies was given greater depth as layers of flavour were enhanced by this third expertly chosen cask. It is a labour of love celebrating different whisky characters transformed by aging and oak, then skillfully unified in a symphony for the senses unlike any other.

Tasting notes

The aroma sings with sweet sherry soaked peaches which contrast with sharp interludes of fresh ginger. Notes of treacle toffee and burnt orange become beautifully balanced on the palate.

RISE OF SINGLETON

Glendullan is founded by William Williams & Sons Ltd., blenders from Aberdeen, and is the last of seven distilleries to be built in Dufftown. It shares a private railway siding with nearby Mortlach and all the machinery is driven by an overshot water wheel powered by water from the River Fiddich. William Innes (b.1866) dies in Dufftown aged 89. Innes was almost certainly the first distillery manager at Glendullan and may have worked there until his retirement. He and his wife are recorded as living at Glendullan House in the 1901 and 1911 censuses, and she dies there in 1917. In 1985 the Old Glendullan buildings on the distillery site are decommissioned, though they remain in use as a workshop. Around 2015 the Singleton of Glendullan launches three new expressions as a Global Travel Exclusive: Classic, Double Matured and Master’s Art.
