Product details

A rare and precious encounter. L'Or de Jean Martell is the quintessence of Martell cognacs: a unique blend of more than 700 rare eaux de vies, revealing a symphony of fresh citrus, fruit, gingerbread and precious wood. L’Or de Jean Martell is an exceptional and complex cognac which expresses the myriad nuances of over 700 rare and precious eaux-de-vie, some of which have aged for more than a century. It is distinguished by the encounter of eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne and the Borderies, the smallest and most exclusive terroir in the Cognac region, which create a blend of elegance, richness and power. The jewel decanter, whose shape evokes a drop in which the cognac is enclosed and protected is made of precious crystal.

Tasting notes

A silky-smooth and subtle attack is followed by richer, more substantial flavours. Harmonious notes of blackcurrant and woodland undergrowth encounter tones of gingerbread and orange peel. Long-aged Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie bring strength and structure, prolonged into an exquisite, lingering finish.

MEET MAISON MARTELL

In 1715 Jean Martell leaves his native Jersey and arrives in France to devote himself to developing the art of cognac. He travels the region in search of the finest eaux-de-vie and establishes ties with local winegrowers that will last for generations. When Jean Martell founded Maison Martell, he already had his eye on the Borderies, the smallest and rarest of cognac crus. The grapes that grow in the silica-clay soils of the Borderies give its eaux-de-vie distinctive floral aromas and an exceptional smoothness. It is this unique terroir that lends the finest Martell cognacs their hallmark elegance and subtlety.
